what’s happening in Crypto?
by Akili Yang
⚡ The Quick Byte: Your Rapid Rundown in Web3, Tech and Finance!
📌 Elon Musk is shaking things up with 𝕏, aiming to make it the world’s go-to financial platform by 2024. Imagine a PayPal 2.0 but integrated with social and media features. Traditional banking could be on its way out!
📌 OpenAI isn't taking chances; they've launched a 'Preparedness Team' to keep AI risks at bay. With AI capabilities skyrocketing, the team aims to prevent any catastrophic missteps.
📌 Investment Watch: Google and Amazon are pouring billions into Anthropic, an OpenAI competitor. The investments total $2B from Google and $4B from Amazon. The AI race is intensifying, and it's crucial to keep an eye on these developments.
📌 Crypto Update: Inflation-hit countries are seeing a Bitcoin boom. In Argentina, BTC is up 278%, while in Turkey, it's up 210%, and in Nigeria, it's risen by 269%.
That wraps up this month's quick byte. Key developments are reshaping the landscapes of Web3, technology, and finance, so keep your eyes peeled for what comes next.
what’s new in ZK Identity?
by Chris Tam
Aleo and Sui have both introduced their versions of ZK identity verification. Private digital identities have long been a promise to Web3 and are now finally available to users. Holonym, who will be doing a workshop at TBW 2023, unveiled their zero-knowledge government ID service on Gitcoin over the summer allowing users to validate their authenticity with a passport without disclosing any details beyond owning a passport. Could this be the end of the era of revealing sensitive data?
🇹🇼 What’s new in Taiwan?
New Kid On The Block: Sora Ventures, lead by crypto OG Jason Fang, just opened its new offices in Taipei 101 making its foray into the Taiwan blockchain investment scene. Sora is a leading digital asset and blockchain venture capital firm looking to bring exposure to the Taiwan crypto-scene and also partnering with Bu Zhi DAO for Taipei Blockchain Week with the return of Sora Summit.
Managing partner, Jason Fang, said there were four key reasons why he chose Taiwan for Sora’s base of operations: 1) friendly regulatory environment, 2) talent (Taiwan produces the best computer chips and engineers), 3) geography (2 hours to anywhere in Asia), and 4) the culture and community (tell me you love BZD without saying you love BZD).
